Larry Zacher – Professional Profile

As Executive Director of the Brampton Safe City Association from 2005-2015, Larry Zacher led a community team of safety professionals and citizen volunteers to make Brampton, Ontario one of the world’s designated safe places.

Since 2007, Brampton has received global recognition as a Designated International Safe Community  by the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre For Community Safety Promotion (WHO-CCCSP).   More importantly, as a result of the strong community safety network in place, Brampton residents currently experience significantly lower injury rates than the average Ontario community.

In 2008, Larry was trained and appointed as an International Certifier by the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre to work globally, helping communities achieve the prestigious international safe community designation.

Since then, he has travelled across North America, as well as to Australia, New Zealand and China to evaluate community safety programs, and mentor safety groups.
